Amy and Gaitlyn's Intimate Backyard Wedding

When Amy and Gaitlyn contacted me about photographing part of their small wedding ceremony/pool party, I was thrilled and completely flattered. Amy is a very talented photographer in her own right and operated her own professional photography business for years. I met Amy and her two girls though a dear mutual friend during the beginning years of my first born's life, so that also made this opportunity all the more special.

A couple of fun background facts:

1. Amy beautifully photographed my oldest child at roughly 19 months of age.

2. I had assumed Amy was the one who had suggested I photograph the wedding, but in all actuality, I have Gaitlyn to thank! Gaitlyn, who I hadn't met prior to our consultation, told me that she began following me on IG and loved my work, so she shared it with Amy, who exclaimed, "I know her!" And the rest is history.

Amy and Gaitlyn were married at the courthouse in downtown Columbus in the fall, so this ceremony was as much about bringing together and including their families for a grand celebration as anything else. And I felt that, but I also felt it ended up being just as much, if not more, of an intimate moment for and between the two of them as they redeclared their commitment to each other.

The ceremony was held in the couple's backyard in the Bexley, Ohio area on June 24, 2017, and it was very heartfelt and personal with Amy's brother serving as the officiant and her two daughters standing up for them as bridesmaids. Nieces and nephews played the music, Amy's dad made the arch that stood at the front of the aisle, and Gaitlyn's loved ones were hard at work in the kitchen. It was a family affair, and if all of the hugs after the ceremony were any indication, that's just the way it should have been!

Get ready to swoon. This wedding was so genuine (I swear none of the kisses were directed), so touching, and so much fun. And thankfully, we were able to keep the kids (and adults) out of the pool long enough to get portraits of all of the family units together!
