A Morning with the Newberry Family

Take a peek and you will notice that this session is from the fall. I’m not a consistent blogger, but my only really good excuse about why it’s taken me so long to share this session is that I loved it SO much I could hardly bring myself to choose my favorite photos…there were just so many beautiful images of this family connecting and just being together.

Molly contacted me to plan this session because she has had regrets about failing to capture some of the family’s milestones moments. She’s watching her boys grow and change so quickly, and she wanted to truly capture them at this stage of life before it flashes by. We agreed that an in-home documentary session would be a perfect fit for her needs.

Molly’s one concern mirrored one I encounter from time to time about in-home sessions: She doesn’t love the current state of her house. The family is planning a remodel to address some things they don’t like about the home, so she was worried how this might impact her feelings about the photos. Rest assured: It did not negatively impact her feelings about the photos at all. In fact, she says she loves the photos more and more every day. I truly find with these sessions that the state of the home fades into the background. It’s meaningful, but it’s not the focus.

I also helped Molly select framed art for her walls. I offer a collection of curated pieces that I personally love. She said, “They (the framed prints) arrived today, and Paul had them propped up on the fire place when I got home. I almost cried when I saw them! They are so beautiful and perfect!” This is the final piece of the process that brings it all together. It’s a piece that often gets skipped or put off until “someday”, but the joy of seeing your favorite photos on your walls day in and day out cannot be described. I know this first hand!

I hope you enjoy these photos from a very special morning with the Newberry family. If you are in the Columbus area and want feel the tug to do something like this for your family, please feel free to reach out. I’m here to help every step of the way. Families like this one will assure you that you won’t regret the investment in this piece of your family history.
